Contractor Tools for Your Bottom Line.

The Construction Industry

Contractors have similar yet different needs when it comes to construction management and accounting software. Whether needs differ due to size of the company, size/scope of the job, level of specialization, need to subcontract parts of a job or some other unique need, current job needs often require great flexibility in choosing the tools needed to manage, track and bill for a particular job. ComputerEase recognizes this industry/job uniqueness and has incorporated tools that can be used throughout the construction industry based upon the demands of each job or company.

Are you a:

  • general contractor who has currently won the bid for demolition only of a job that has multiple phases of construction and bidding packages
  • mechanical contractor who has won the bid for installing/replacing the mechanicals but need to sub out some of the work because part of the piping to be laid requires larger equipment than normally used by your crew
  • commercial contractor subbing out the shell of the building to a tilt-up contractor but intend to do all interior and finish work internally
  • residential contractor creating a new "planned community" around an existing or new shopping amenities development that necessitates subbing the commercial portion but manage the overall completion of the project yourself
  • electrical contractor performing specialized wiring for a mechanical contractor as part of their large job
  • working on a typical job for your company that requires prevailing wage reporting over several taxing jurisdictions

All of these complex scenarios and much more typical ones are doable with the use of ComputerEase construction management software. Click on any of our industry/function specific categories for suggestions on ways ComputerEase can help meet the needs of your company.

We did some work with residential electrical contractors, commercial electrical contractors, uhm, I just general contractors. Uhm, we have worked with HVAC contractors. We did some with concrete and foundation contractors and subcontractors and we've actually used it recently, as you know, with rental and using it with a company that was implementing rental systems and we've used it a lot of creative ways, even some of our clients used to be on a different software and they would just start to implement certain modules of ComputerEase. Now, as they saw how much we could customize it and what we could do to get all the tools and information they need out of it, they would begin to add on and maybe start with the basics now you add equipment or add the project management and add different modules. So there's a lot.

One of the things that are, that's unique to the construction industry are the comings and goings of field employees. Uhm, you hire them, they're laid off, they come back. Uhm, and we have to have a way to track uhm, their restart dates uh, because that goes back to how we uhm, calculate our 401K, uhm, the user defined fields are wonderful because you can, you can put in whatever you need there like uh, what their rehire date was, uhm, you know, their information, when they left, why they left. Uhm, it, it really is a good tool emergency phone numbers, you know, any number of things uhm, that you need at a glance uh, it's nice to have the user fields.

We’ve been a ComputerEase uh, customer for about 8 years and there was, there’s been an unintended consequence to using their software and that is that after using it for a length of time, we’ve been able to go in and data mine, go in and look for nuggets of gold that were actually sitting in, in the computer system uhm, and turn those to our advantage.
